New transport, control and monitoring solutions advance optical networking
Oxnard, CA, March 28, 2012 – At NAB (booth SU2019), Nevion, the leading provider of managed video services for broadcasters, service providers and government entities worldwide, will feature an enhanced Flashlink product family, now with 10G transport, integrated with full control and monitoring capabilities.
Nevion’s Flashlink fiber portfolio now transports most broadcast signals including 10 Gigabit Ethernet onto a single dark fiber. With aggregation technology up to 10G—the longest reach in the industry for 3G-SDI over dark fiber—and wavelength multiplexing support for both CWDM and DWDM, Flashlink provides unmatched fiber transport bandwidth. New offerings include an Ethernet switch card with 1G electrical ports and 10G uplink ports supporting short-, mid- and long-haul optical interfaces as well as CWDM (ETH1000-SW-10G), and a new optical transponder for 10 Gigabit Ethernet or SDH/SONET signals (10G-TR), converting short-haul optical formats to long-haul or CWDM formats.
In keeping with Flashlink’s commitment to flexibility and high performance, Nevion’s new time domain multiplexers are engineered for any fiber transport application. Configured to multiplex two HD-SDI signals into one 3G-SDI, or four SD-SDI and one HD-SDI signals into 3G-SDI, new multiplexers accommodate CWDM and DWDM optical transmitters and both short- and long-haul optical receivers. Channel density over fiber has also been increased to support 18 channels over CWDM (18-channel CWDM)—across the entire Flashlink product family.
For comprehensive control and monitoring across Flashlink and VikinX product lines, Nevion introduces the Advanced Touch Panel (CP-TOUCH-1U). Compact, yet boasting a large touch-based interface, the touchscreen is customizable, enabling easy shifting of parameters ideal for signal processing, as well as router control and distribution—all from one source. Fully integrated with Nevion’s Multicon control system and Nevion Configurator for an easy graphical configuration, the touchscreen control panel facilitates control of the entire signal flow in master control, studio, outside broadcast, head-end, or other applications.
