High-bandwidth fiber-optic KVM extension and switching infrastructure to deliver operational efficiencies and flexibility for worldwide outsourced mobile broadcast production leader
LAS VEGAS, NV – April 13, 2015 -- Thinklogical, a global manufacturer of secure, high-performance KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) extension and switching systems for video-rich applications, today announced that NEP Group Inc. has selected Thinklogical KVM technology for a new mobile broadcast production truck.
The announcement was made at NAB Show 2015 in Las Vegas, where Thinklogical is showcasing its full range of KVM and video signal management solutions for broadcast, film and post-production applications in booth SL10124. Demonstrations include the new TLX Series 10 Gbps platform supporting uncompressed 4K@60Hz video extension and switching at full resolution and color depth (4096 x 2160 resolution, 4-4-4 color depth) over two fiber or CATx cables, the lowest in the industry.
NEP is a leading worldwide provider of outsourced solutions to the broadcast and live event industries, offering technical services for outside broadcast, studio production, video display, host broadcasting and post production. Headquartered in in the United States, they have offices in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Dubai and Australia.
The new NEP truck will feature a Thinklogical 320V 6.25Gbps fiber-optic video matrix switch and modular, space-saving Thinklogical KVM extenders with DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) optics, enabling a flexible and efficient switching infrastructure that maximizes performance and responsiveness while reducing the amount of fiber cabling required to interconnect the truck’s four production units. All devices in the truck that use a keyboard, mouse, joystick or trackball and a video display for control can be routed through the Thinklogical system and assigned to any workstation, and can then be quickly switched to another device or workstation. This “any-to-any” switching capability allows individual operators to work from any of the available positions as needed for increased collaboration, productivity and workflow efficiency.
This is the third Thinklogical deployment for NEP. The company has installed Thinklogical in EN1 and ND1, two state-of-the-art, multi-unit trucks designed for national network productions.
“We selected Thinklogical for their ability to support a high-performance signal management infrastructure that meets our client’s demanding technical requirements with a modular and flexible architecture that offers easy reconfiguration and room for expansion to meet future needs,” said Joseph Signorino, vice president, systems integration, NEP U.S. Mobile Units. “The rock-solid performance, reliability, and operational efficiencies delivered by the Thinklogical KVM systems in our current EN1 and ND1 trucks made the decision to use Thinklogical again an easy one.”
“As a Pittsburgh area resident, I’m especially pleased that Thinklogical is partnering again with NEP, a company with headquarters in the city that is also a global leader in their industry,” said Joe Pajer, president and CEO of Thinklogical. “NEP is a recognized innovator who expands the boundaries of how cutting-edge technology is used in mobile broadcast production, and we’re proud they have again chosen Thinklogical for their latest truck design. Our patented extension and switching systems provide NEP with a future-proof signal management architecture that will help their customers deliver high-quality remote broadcast productions with mission-critical reliability, flexibility and performance.”
