READING, U.K. — Nov. 22, 2010 —Snell today announced the appointment of Robert Rowe as CTO. Rowe, a 15-year veteran of the global telecommunications and satellite industries, will assume responsibility for both engineering implementation and technology strategy for Snell's entire systems, product, and technology portfolio and will be responsible for managing the development life cycle to ensure timely and competitive customer solutions. Rowe will report directly to Simon Derry, Snell CEO.

"We could not be more pleased that Rob has joined us in such a critical role. He has shown true entrepreneurial leadership capabilities in both large and small organizations, and he is a true innovator in technical disciplines whilst having a strong grasp of commercial and operational areas," said Derry. "In particular, Rob's deep experience with startups will bring a fresh approach to our ongoing efforts to deliver best-of-breed products in a challenging and ever-changing marketplace."

Rowe has a rich background in technology and product development for the cellular and mobile communications industries. Just prior to joining Snell, he was an independent consultant to Cambridge Silicon Radio, where he was involved in its acquisition of SiRF. Previously, Rowe served as an internal consultant for Cambridge Silicon Radio and was also CTO for Cambridge Positioning Systems Ltd for seven years, a period in which he led the company's development of cellular positioning systems including GPS and terrestrial solutions. Other prior positions include vice president of network design and technology for Aerial Communications, technical director for AirTouch PCS, and technical director of Telesis Technologies Laboratory. He was also instrumental in launching the U.K. presence of Orange, the fifth largest telecom operator in the world. Rowe holds a master's degree in engineering communications (first class honors) from the University of London.

"Snell has an incredible track record of delivering innovative, reliable, high-quality solutions, with profound levels of expertise in the video and television realms," said Rowe. "The broadcast and media markets are also changing rapidly, which presents exciting new opportunities for Snell not only to expand its existing market share, but also to catapult itself into new technology and market areas. I look forward to being a part of this expansion."
