RTS secures communications in the Moulin Rouge
  • The world-famous Moulin Rouge nightclub in Paris was recently equipped with a new intercom system from RTS
  • Le Team and Pilote Films were responsible for the installation
  • The equipment used includes an RTS ADAM-M matrix as well as KP 32 CLD and WKP-4 keypanels
The Moulin Rouge ranks among the world’s most famous nightclubs. Opened in 1889, the ”red windmill” in Paris’s Montmartre district has provided a wealth of material for books and films – including the 2001 Hollywood film of the same name featuring Nicole Kidman that won two Oscars.

But whereas tradition may loom large in the birthplace of the can-can and variétés, in at least one area – that of communications equipment – the club’s management prefers to rely on the latest technology. For this reason, the 850-seat theatre was recently equipped with a brand-new intercom system from RTS. For the control room, installation company Le Team – working closely with RTS partner Pilote Films – opted for an RTS ADAM-M 64 x 64 matrix along with four RTS KP 32 CLD keypanels. The ADAM-M digital matrix not only offers what Frédéric Protot calls “state-of-the-art performance and reliability” but also “numerous expansion possibilities, such as the connection of up to 31 further matrices” with “redundant power supplies and one of the largest portfolios in terms of interface cards in the entire intercom industry” constituting further advantages. Thanks to their color displays, the KP 32 CLD keypanels installed in the Moulin Rouge create a user-friendly working environment with their 32 multi-directional keys used for talk, listen, and the emulation of traditional level control functions.

The ADAM-M digital matrix and KP 32 CLD keypanels in the control room are linked via a glass-fibre network to the dancers’ dressing rooms. In these, Protot and his team have installed easy-to-use WKP-4 wall-mounted keypanels with volume controls. “The WKP-4 keypanels allow direct communication with the dancers at any time – making the organizational logistics of performances simpler and more efficient than ever before.”
