Ross Video and SRT Alliance Announce SRT support for the Ross softGear Streaming Gateway

Content delivery without compromises. Fast, efficient, and error-free content transmission across the campus, to a remote or Cloud production studio, or across the globe utilizing minimal bandwidth usage and latency.

Ottawa, Canada – June 23, 2022 – Ross Video, a global leader in live video production applications, and the SRT Alliance, a global community founded by Haivision whose mission is to promote the adoption of the open source SRT transport protocol, today announced the availability of Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) in the Ross Video softGear™ Streaming Gateway (SSG). The integration of the SRT into the softGear™ Streaming Gateway adds a secure, reliable, and low latency contribution mechanism to remote and Cloud production workflows.

SRT is a free open-source video transport protocol and technology stack originally developed and pioneered by Haivision, which enables the delivery of high-quality and secure, low-latency video across the public internet.

Content producers favouring remote or Cloud production workflows, will appreciate SRT's carefully crafted balance between mutually exclusive low latency and high-quality attributes by deploying the latest streaming and packet recovery techniques while allowing standard codecs and muxing methods.

"We are delighted to announce that our softGear Streaming Gateway and softGear platform will support the Secure Reliable Transport or SRT," says Wojtek Tryc, Director, TPM softGear, Ross Video. "The SRT will enable the best of breed transport mechanism for reliable Ground to Cloud communication and further enhance Ross Cloud Production's product portfolio."

"SRT has become the defacto industry standard for enabling cloud production workflows," says Pablo Hesse, VP of Strategic Initiatives, Haivision. "We're very excited that SRT can now power broadcasters using Ross softGear for live production, no matter where they are located."
