Ottawa, Canada, September 17th 2020 – Ross is proud to announce that the Graphite PPC picked up another two prestigious industry awards during the IBC Showcase event held last week. The Graphite PPC (Portable Production Center) is the latest addition to the Graphite family of integrated production solutions, and has been honored with a TV Technology ‘Best of Show’ award and a TVB Europe ‘Best of Show’ award. This follows two awards received at Infocomm’s virtual event earlier this year and a host of positive press for the new solution.
Launched in April this year as part of Ross Live Season One, the Graphite PPC combines a real Carbonite production switcher, real XPression graphics and a powerful RAVE audio engine all in one compact and portable chassis. Unlike regular PC-based products, all of the Graphite’s core functions live on a separate PCIe card, ensuring that the operator can still continue to work in the event of a PC reboot or other operating system issue. That reliability has seen the Graphite being used by everyone from national level broadcasters to smaller production companies, and in every kind of live production environment from houses of worship and concert halls to regional broadcast studios and home basements.
Nigel Spratling, VP of Switchers and Servers at Ross, is delighted with the awards, but not surprised at the publicity Graphite PPC is receiving. “The ongoing pandemic has seen a great many broadcasters and producers reassess their working methods. Of course we love it when customers buy our flagship switchers and install them into amazing new studios and stadiums, but we also understand that nimbleness and efficiency are incredibly important at times like this when so many people are working from home and producing content remotely. The Graphite PPC is exactly the product the industry needs in the current climate – it’s portable, powerful, quiet, and offers all of the convenience of an ‘all in one’ solution with none of the worries over reliability or robustness that normally come with these products.”
The annual awards are supported by four of Future’s leading media technology brands: TVBEurope, Pro Sound News, Radio World, and TV Technology, and are judged by an independent panel of industry and Future market specialists. “We’ve had a terrific turnout considering the virtual nature of the current trade show environment, which is fantastic because it’s important that product development and innovation continues to receive the visibility it deserves despite the lack of physical events,” said Future B2B group content director, James McKeown. “Every year the level of entries goes up a gear and 2020 is no exception. The quality and agility of the tech and solutions on show this year is testament to the work being done by product and R&D teams throughout this community, and our sincere congratulations go to the winners and all of those nominated for an award.”
