Ventura, Flashlink and VikinX products create comprehensive solution suites for broadcasters and video transport service providers
November 02, 2010
Hollywood, CA, November 2 – Nevion, formerly Network/VPG, a leading video transport solutions provider for broadcasters, service providers and government entities worldwide, demonstrated a comprehensive range of new solutions for video over IP at the 2010 SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture Television Engineers) Annual Technical Conference & Expo, which took place October 26 – 28 at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel.
According to Chin Chye Koh, director of product management for Nevion’s Ventura product line, attendees responded enthusiastically to the breadth and quality of Nevion’s video transport solutions. “We have a good relationship with the SMPTE community and our reputation for integrated, comprehensive solutions across any network infrastructure continues to grow as we unveil new solutions across all product families.”
Nevion’s Ventura, Flashlink and VikinX product lines interoperate to transport uncompressed or compressed HD or 3D video over any network – SONET/SDH, IP or fiber. Nevion showed its new video-over-IP solution suite based on the award-winning and standards-compliant Ventura platform. The latest VS908 multiplexer delivers powerful security through AES encryption of video, and privacy through IP networks via VLAN tagging. A variable jitter buffer maintains the highest degree of quality in jitter-prone, packet-based networks. The standards-compliant VS908 can be deployed in pairs or as a single node, interoperating with other standards-compliant modules.
The latest model of Ventura VS901 JPEG 2000 codecs offers unparalleled visual quality with higher compressed bit rates and support for 3G, while maintaining the lowest latency available on the market. The VS901 series also provides users with greater quality control through the ability to change luma-chroma ratios and transmit only the luma for specialized applications.
Nevion’s new video-over-IP monitoring and management solutions ensure end-to-end quality of service (QoS). The popular FCS1000-PLUS platform, a high-density in-service video monitoring solution, now includes support for video-over-IP monitoring, offering a complete solution for monitoring the entire video transport infrastructure. Users can pinpoint QoS issues with wire-speed monitoring of video-over-IP traffic at the Ethernet, IP, UDP and RTP layers, support a large number of IP flows using different transport formats, and monitor video-over-IP traffic without the risk of signal interruption. Deployed by service providers and broadcasters worldwide, the FCS1000-PLUS is ideal for central monitoring of a large number of DVB-ASI transport streams or HD/SD-SDI video signals.
Nevion also showcased its latest comprehensive solution suites for:
• Optical networking and in-house 3G / HD networking
• Contribution network solutions—compressed and uncompressed HD transport
• Nevion video links—sporting venue and outside broadcast solutions
• Nevion surveillance/monitoring and distance learning solutions
