The PTG is the latest addition to HORITA's line of award winning miniature handheld portables for use in the field. This palm- sized generator is simple to setup and operate and features a large 2-line liquid crystal display (LCD) readout for time code, user bits, and setup information. The PTG is an ideal generator for use with inexpensive camcorders in multi camera situations where it is necessary for each tape to have the same time code for precise time and image matching during post production. These situations may include sporting events, games, concerts, automobile, aircraft, and boating events, parades and weddings. For these applications the PTGs are jammed (automatically preset) to the same time code source and the user bits of the time code are set to the date and also include a unique ID number for each individual PTG. Each tape recorded in this manner will have the same time and date but a different ID number so they can't get mixed up later. The PTG can also jam to an RS232 serial data input from a GPS receiver for generation of precise time of day and date time code.
- Reads and generates SMPTE time code at six frame rates of 23.976FPS, 24FPS, 25FPS, 29.97FPS DF (Drop Frame), 29.97FPS NDF (Non-Drop Frame), and 30FPS (FPS= frames-per-second)
- Provides selection of "LINE" or "MIC" output level when generating time code and includes various common MIC/ LINE adapter connectors
- Time code generator "auto jam" mode presets the generator to TC or GPS serial data input values for time and date
- Once jammed, generator operation continues and can be stopped only by powering the PTG off
- Prevents accidentally stopping the generator via unintended actuation of the "run/ stop" switch
- Low "free run" drift rate of a maximum of one frame per hour over temperature provides close matching of the PTG time with that of the jam source throughout the day
- Actual drift rate is much better than one frame per hour if the PTG is not subjected to large temperature changes, such as from being left in the sun or out in freezing conditions
- Time code reader mode displays time code, user bits, and frame rate values when reading time code, or GPS time and date values when reading GPS data
- Powered over 24 hours on a single 9V battery
- All settings and presets are maintained in non-volatile memory, even when the battery is removed
