TIGHTROPE MEDIA SYSTEMS RELEASES CAROUSEL 5.2 with Impressions Tracking

Tightrope Media Systems announced today that it has released Carousel 5.2 which includes a number of significant new features including impressions tracking, status monitoring, and Windows active directory integration. Other new features include iCal support, RSS rendering enhancements, support for ATOM data feeds, and the ability to display images and data from web sites.

With impressions tracking, Carousel reports on the number of times a particular piece of content airs, regardless of content type. Standard bulletins, RSS feeds, video and other types of Carousel content are all reported in the same fashion. Carousel counts the number of times a bulletin has played, and also calculates the total time a bulletin has been displayed. According to Tightrope Media Systems Co-Founder Andrew Starks, this new group of features, particularly impressions tracking, provides Carousel customers a set of tools that enables them to better serve advertisers. “Many of Tightrope’s customers have a need to report back to advertisers, sponsors, or management on the number of times their message has aired”, said Mr. Starks. “Impressions tracking gives them a tool to provide that data.”

Carousel 5.2’s added status monitoring function provides a graphic display in the user interface whenever the player has not checked in with the server. Carousel also e-mails the administrator if there is a change in status. Carousel 5.2’s iCal support enables Carousel to read any iCal source, including those from the internet. Popular calendaring systems, such as Microsoft’s Exchange Server also use iCal, making this feature very important to businesses. Also, Carousel 5.2’s integration with Windows Active Directory means that a corporation can use Active Directory accounts for user logins, providing single sign on for users and simplified administration.

Carousel 5.2 also provides users with several exciting content acquisition capabilities. Carousel has always pulled in RSS feeds and composed pages for display automatically, but with 5.2, Carousel also displays images that are included in RSS feeds. Also new in Carousel 5.2 is the ability to take a snapshot from an existing Web page, and display it through Carousel. “In addition to pulling data, RSS feeds and Atom Feeds with images, Carousel users can now also pull a “web page snapshot” from their own or partner websites”, said company CEO JJ Parker. “These new features greatly increase the way existing rich content can be reused and displayed, making compelling content for the signage medium that is much easier to create and distribute.”
